Thanked: 2209I asked for pics on 28 of them. He is vastly overpriced in his valuation of $9K, even $5K is far to high. $2k would be more realistic.

Ivo,
Apparently, 100% is 'collectible' condition, with 'mint' being closer to 300%. Below 100% is less than collectible, 50% would be for parts, etc... Hope that helps.

a deal
I dont know if this is out of the whelm of possibility. I am new to Straight Shaving so forgive me if it does not make sense. If people are interested in dividing this collection up, but do not have the cash to purchase the entire collection outright....What I suggest is....have someone who is qualified (and trusted) to be the center of negotiations with this gentleman to evaluate the pictures that the gentleman may send to us upon request. Negotiate a deal that is agreeable to both saler and negotiator as far as price is concerned. Then we all pitch in a certain amount and divide the collection up. How that would be done is beyond me. Any suggestions, ridicule, ideas, attaboys, welcome.

Thanked: 9Bryan,
this is more complex than it seems, and someone will likely end up disappointed in the end.
John: thank you for the clarification and WOW on the percentages... I was just going to say that maybe we sell our razors here way too cheap . Since I am strictly a user, very few interesting and at a price I find reasonable...

Yep.
Ivo,
I agree with you 100%. I do not think there would be a good way of dividing it up. I kinda like the thrill of searching for one razor at a time. What the heck would I do with a bunch of them at one time. I cannot wait until I get back to the states and just go "searching" in antique shops, flea markets, and such for the ultimate straight razor. I know it is out there.

interesting
Like RichZ, only a few would interest me. However, from the price list i see that we are all overspending on the dubl ducks and getting the the union spikes real cheap... i would like to contact him and offer 4 union spikes for a mere 50$ a piece, i think a spent 6.50 for the most expensive one... i might have to reevaluate my collection...
if it shaves really well it is cheap... if it is pretty good... reasonable price... just ok shaver are expensive.Be just and fear not.

I also think 5k is way to much for this collection. Please excuse my ignorance but I have never heard of a lot of these razors which tells me they have not been on ebay and in my humble opinion not what I would be interested in. I after all am a shaver not a collector.
