Recent acquisitions for my collection
OK, this hobby is consuming me... I was looking around my office, and it's overflowing with boxes of stuff, all related to, in some small way, shaving.
Anyway, I made a few purchases over the last month or so which I am particularly fond of, so I figured I'd show them off to the only crowd on the planet that might enjoy seeing them. My wife sure doesn't.
The first is a nice old style (not Moss style) scuttle. It was just plain blue, which appealed to me vs. all the flowery scuttles I've been seeing.
Next is a vintage Dubl Duck shaving brush. It is unused in it's original box. Looks great and is in perfect condition.
Next is a G. Wostenholm & Sons razor with a fantastic set of scales. The banner is great, and the blades not too shabby either.
Last is the Friedman & Lauterjung's Electric Razor. It is not electric, making the name a bit funny, and it came in it's original tin case, which is what attracted me to it.
OK, so that's all the noteworthy items for now. I convinced my wife to go antiqueing this weekend, so we'll see what I can turn up.
Everyone, please have a holy (for the Christians out there) and happy Easter weekend.
John

Wostey
I just picked up a wostey today myself and am quite pleased with it. Pictures to follow. Mine is a really plain one.
My question is on the markings. Yours looks earlier than mine...... but, Mine is marked "& son", yours is marked "& son's".
Did he only have one son when mine was made and a second when yours was made or did their brand name change differently between the 19th C. and the early 20th C.? I really feel you have an earlier blade. Maybe the fathers branding.
