Straight razor mentality
I have noticed that a lot of the members have interest in nostalgia. This might give some insight into why someone might shave straight. I enjoy sitting in my 1910 Koken barber chair and having a bowl full of my favorite pipe tobacco. I like old coleman lanterns, no propane, and the thought of being in an old us parks log lodge. I think it would be fun to drive to Alaska. I still camp in a tent. I like to do things the old way. I like to shave as my grandfather did. I appreciate a fine blued rifle in a walnut stock. I think muzzle loading rifles should use flint. I miss the Hamms beer ads. I like home made wine and a good beer, with flavor, not the over carbonated beer flavored water the mega breweries make today. In a world of stainless steel, carbon fiber, and computers it feels good to touch the past.
These are just ramblings from a middle aged idiot tiring to touch his heritage.

Yes we are a strange lot, more interested in the the past. how many of you TIE a tie, instead of a clip on? How many know how to tie a bow tie? Strange what you think of getting ready to go.

I wouldn't think of wearing a clip on. I'm still working on the bow tie.

Mabye it's just about an emotional state or reaction versus today's "in a flash and a half stumble" doing's. Anyway... The old fashion... -for me it do the trick!

Thanked: 4942I think you will find many kindred spirits of a similar mentality in this forum. It is surprising how many people feel much the same as you do in addition to have very similar interests.
Have fun.

Necktie? I've never owned one. I suppose
you could call this a family tradition.

Thanked: 0I think of it more as "preserve" and "honor" the past
Some things were much better before our time, now days people just live by the hype, all out property become more "disposable" like the cell phons and so on

Microwave meals, you can feed the family something in seconds, but what's in it?
