Found this article, may have been posted before, but what I found interesting was the note about using Listerine because, "After all, it did actually start out as a surgical antiseptic and was used to clean wounds on the battlefields of WWI."

Back in the day ...... and maybe still for some oldtimers, we used it to mix tattoo ink. A lotta Listerine went under the skin back in the old days.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

my grandfather used it to keep his white hair white. He applied it daily with a small hairbrush.

My Grandfather bought it by the case, they used to deliver it. He was a Barber and used it as a mouth wash, dandruff treatment, antiseptic and who knows what else. I remeber those glass quart bottles that came in a paper tube.
