Thanked: 346Lynn (who should know) and several other respected members of the forum thinks the Maestro Livi razors are the best stainless razors. I don't have one to compare, buy my vintage Henckels Friodurs are better than my vintage Puma INOX or my Dovo INOX.

Best is relative when it comes to this sort of thing.
I have a 5/8 Dovo SS (NOS Fritz Bracht - not current production) that is great.
However, I like my 7/8 Friodur better, but that could be as much due to the size/heft as the different steel.

Thanked: 346You didn't ask which stainless razors were good, you asked which one was best.
In my personal experience, vintage Friodurs are the best. Dovo are good, but they aren't the best. Current production Friodurs are also good, but they aren't the best. Vintage Puma INOX are very good, but they also aren't the best.
AFAIK the only other stainless razor currently being produced are the Maestro Livi's. However, I don't own a Livi so I can't compare. Those that do own them seem to think they are better than the vintage Friodurs.

Thanked: 0I will try and clear what I want to know
I don't mean which one has the most "nice" handle or such things, I am asking about the steel itself, the best material that is best forged into a razor to provide the "best" one out there
When I mean best, I mean one that can reach a very keen edge, and stay like it for a long time and not get rust (resistance) and can get you a really good close shave
(and yeah, I know it is a subjective question)

Thanked: 9Well, I (as well as others, who know better than me) don't even think that stainless is best to begin with. Sure - less hassle to maintain. Better shaving than a high quality carbon - don't think so. Even this is personal, though.
Other than that - I believe Michael meant that Livi ATS razors are best not on account of "pretty scales" (although they are, inded, very nice) but rather shaving quality.
Cheers
Ivo
