SRP Special Edition Straight #95 is mine!
Mine, mine, all mine, mu hu ha ha ha...
I received it today and my whiskers are running for cover as we speak. I can't wait to try it. It's 1am and I just might shave for the hell of it. Shave report to follow.

Congratulations! I still need to get mine. Sadly, I think the Henckels Friodur is up next on the list.

Actually I have two and I found neither were near shave ready. Though they were sequentially numbered #38 and 39 one took way longer to hone than the other. I also am of the opinion that the blanks used for these razors are not quite as large and as heavy as the other sheffield singing razors they sell. Once honed up though they do shave very well.

Congratulations on entering the inner sanctum. Perform your shaves well and you'll learn the secret handshake and how to perform the club chant.

Thanked: 335bigspendur,
I, too, have ordered, but not yet received, an SPR limited edition razor. You commented that you have two and that they each needed different amount of honing. Since I don't know doodly whoop about sharpening a razor, but also ordered Lynn Abrams DVD, are there things on which you can advise a razor honing tyro or should I just wait for the DVD and it will tell me what I need to know?

Welcome, Bruce
First of all you should get your first razor honed by a member here. Lynn is the one responsible for the honing service at Classic Shaving and if it hasn't shipped yet, I'd strongly recommend you include that service in your purchase.
I recomend you read up on honing as much as you can here, use the Search function profusely and ask all the questions you need to in the Honing Forum. Then get some practice blades cheap and practice your technique.

If you are not well versed on honing I would not recommend you use any TI Razor as a practice razor whether you have the DVD or not. Send it out for honing and get an Eboy junk razor to practice with.

Thanked: 346I'll second that. (a) they're too nice a razor to be experimented on, and (b) TI's can be "interesting" to hone.
