Favotie Sheffield razor?
Hey yall.... I just recently started to get more razors to learn to work on and was wondering more about the Sheffield razors. I have yet to shave with a vintage Sheffield razor, but looking forward towards doing so...... I have a few W&B, Greaves, Rodgers, etc, and others but wondering which ones do you like best and why? Feel free to post pics and tell me about your razor. I hope everyone is doing well and thanks!

Thanked: 1184I have tried a few and started collecting them long ago. Can't say I have a favorite. An 8/8 Greaves sticks in my mind as a top contender though. I have some really really ( not as old as Zak's) Sheffeilds I am going to restore someday. I could go on like this but I best just say , I haven't had a razor yet I didn't like.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

What Will Rodgers said about people I'll say about Sheffield razors, I've never met one I didn't like.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I don't know that I'd say that, but like the Solingens, Swedish, USAs from the golden days of barbers shaving customers regularly, the razors were all up to a high level of quality. I may have had one that shaved better than another, but so far they've all been good. I like 6/8 to 8/8 with smiling blades on those old Sheffields. Genuine horn or ivory if I can get it, and of course wedges, though half hollows are good too.

Thanked: 580Bengall razors are a must try. Plain looking, but a good work horse. Probably my favourite as far as getting the job done.
