Thanked: 0What to check out in Paris shaving-wise
Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong forum, but here goes...
I have found myself in France, specifically Paris for a few days on business. I have a little personal time up my sleeve, and one of the (many) things I wanted to check out was anything shave related in this part of the globe.
Any pointers from locals or those who know the city well?
Au revoir!

Memories of the City of Lights and it's darker shadows - you mention Paris and shaving in the same breath and the dusty memories come flooding back of a corner bistro, on the Rue de Madelein just off the Latin Quarter - there was a sultry waitress, with chestnut hair and deep, dark pools for eyes - ahh, those eyes, that had seen so much, and yet revealed so little of what lie in waiting....she had a voice....a voice deep and dark, mellowed like a fine brandy....I remember sitting at sidewalk table at closing time, finishing off the last bottle of Pernod....she joined me as the owner cleaned up and upended the chairs on the empty tables.....and we talked....and talked.....and the evening wore on and the air was filled with cigarette smoke and lies....
....but, I bore you.....

What?...More, you say?...you want to hear more of my little tale of Paris' darker side?.....so, where was I?....ah, yes....the scruffy old bartender had finished his straghtening chores and came out to close and lock the doors......we gathered our things..my jacket, her sweater and purse.....and as we stood on the curb, contemplating what remained of the evening and it's possibilities, she leaned into me, ever so close, and whispered with a faint breath of mellowed sherry that her flat was around the corner.....we walked off into the inky night, her arm in mine....both of us grateful for each other's company and steadying hands....we stopped at the dim pool of light from the corner streetlight and exchanged embraces and gentle kisses....she held me closer, and I cradled her head gently in my hands as we both explored each other's depths...her embrace became tighter, and as I carressed her face, I marveled at her silky smooth skin...I slid my hands down to her elegant throat, and in my drunken passion, my thumb slipped down and gently carressed her Adams apple....and, I distincly recall, it was at that precise moment, deep in the passionate embrace, that a tiny, distant voice echoed from my past....my years spent at university...hours spent studying medicine and anatomy......late nights spent in the deep bowels of the human physiology labs, memorizing all the myriad latin names for the muscles, bones, nerves and arteries.....and the voice, a little louder now, screaming something....what was it....as the kisses grew more intense, the voice got louder...until, suddenly, through the fog of Pernod and passion, I could clearly hear it......
.....'women don't HAVE Adams apples!'

Reminds me of a time long ago on Bourbon St...
Gorgeous gal. Danced like a dream. Right up until she popped that boner on my leg...

Thanked: 1587Lou - that was you??? I was going to mention at the time that I thought you could be getting better shaves - glad to see you got there on your own, mon cherie.
Aaaaaaaanyhoo, there's quite a few antiques places and flea markets in Paris. I haven't been there since I went 'straight' and I was looking for old books at the time. But I do recall a lot of antiques floating around. It's a bit time consuming, and if you've only got 2 days.... but it might be worth a look.
