Thanked: 3It wasn't on a cruise. However, my wife and I were married in Vegas. So before we were wed I treated myself to a shave at the Venetian Spa (AOS was booked). It was a good haircut and a fun experience. However it was one of the worst shaves I've had. He went WTG and then ATG with a shavette. My neck was irritated for days. Bleed in a few spots after.
If you try the shave, let us know how it goes. Personally, I've yet to find a barber shave me better than I can. The towels and things leading up to she shave are nice though.

I know that here in Australia going out to the South Pacific it was with a disposable but they did do 3 passes!
I went to a shave seminar on board, when I first started shaving with a str8. Of the two of us who pitched up the other guy was trying to sell his product to the cruise liner and I was more interested in shaving with a straight. I did not learn anything new and it was a advertising hoax to get more money out of passengers.A good lather is half the shave.

I've been on many cruises and never had an issue with bringing a straight blade. I always have it in my checked baggage, I would never try and carry it on through the X-Ray security check. I have talked to them on a couple of cruises and my buddy did the spa shave and it was a cassette multi blade, not even a shavette. The woman said "you don't want a cut throat razor on your throat on a moving ship." I think the spa attendants are just not trained enough to be wielding a straight blade. I don't think I want a shave from someone who has just been promoted from housekeeping.
