Scouts
Hi all
Think this is the right place for this, if not please forgive me.
My son has taken over from me as Leader in our local Venture Scout troop. (UK)
As always they were looking for something different to do so son asked me if I would bring my kit down to the hut.
I have now 6 shave ready razors (1 more for the set lol) These are all over a 100 years old. My favourite is a George Plum which is about 120.
I took my stuff down and laid it all out for the guys and girls to have a look at. Lots of interest from them. Lots of questions about cutting yourself and sweeney todd. Only to be expected really as they are a blood thirsty bunch.
I then went through the importance of stropping and showed how that worked. Then through my pre shave prep and soaping up. Then I shaved and some of the facial expressions from them were fantastic. Especially around the neck and nose area.
There is one lad who is a bit of a jack the lad and always into things, so I asked for a volunteer and somehow managed to end up with him (mmm strange that lol)
I sat him in the chair and lathered him up really well, in his ears up his nose etc. I then got another razor out and stropped it in front of him, Moving behind him I put the razor down and picked up a butter knife and shaved him to lots of oohs and ahs from a prepped audience. He was sat gripping the the chair as I did under his nose, whispered in his ear and told to sit VERY still as I did his neck. Up the neck, up to the point of the chin and flick.
He then breathed a sigh of relief as I finished and left the chair quite meekly.
Unfortunately due to political bloody correctness you are not allowed to film or photo the young uns.
The responses I got from them were really good.
If you get a chance to do one for scouts/cadets youth club give it a go it is good fun.

Sounds like they learned a good deal!
I remember reading once here an advertisement for Boy Scouts selling Genco razors door to door (back in the day) to drum up funds!
Here it is! Post#7 from Martin!

I rest my case.
