Don't worry mate... if you said [here] that you intended to drink two gallons of piss... which is not unheard of, by the way... it would be assumed in the first instance that you meant beer. You will rarely here beer referred to by any other name.

ie. "he drinks too much piss", "I got on the piss last night", "how pissed was that poor bastard?"

Thank you Greg ---- yeah in the good ol U.S. of A. people don't use the term "piss" to mean beer but may use it when saying someone is drunk ----" I got pissed last night" or "piss faced" or "piss drunk". But not all other forum members here are "honourary Aussies" like myself so I had to clarify to them that I was not planning on drinking urine. Later Greg,

Fosters is a bit of an odd one mate... It did have some popularity in the southern states even the Melbourne Cup (like your Kentucky Derby) was called the "Fosters Melbourne Cup" for a while, but I don't know anyone who actually drinks it.

It seems more popular overseas than it does here. I've worked in SE Asia and the Middle East and everyone seems to want to offer you a Fosters when they realise you're Australian.

Up till recently Beer was very much a regional thing... like Coors and Budweiser (if I understand) If you lived in Queensland you would not be seen drinking anything but XXXX (fourex) in Victoria is was VB (Victorian Bitter)

But with a reasonably mobile population and the amalgamation of a couple of the big breweries, some of the state lines have become a little faded. Carlton United from Melbourne make a couple of beers that have caught on pretty strongly up here and its not unusual so see people drinking Carlton Midstrength now.

Personally I don't take anything but XXXX Gold at home...

    Thumbs up Proraso Styptic Gel

A couple of places in Australia that sell "Proraso Styptic Gel" which sounds like a better alternative to a styptic pencil. Discussed in this thread.

    Male Grooming Boutique

    Shaver Shop
(Shaver Shop also has numerous physical retail stores within Australia)
