Default How many razor do you own ?

How many razor you own and use in your routine ?

Straight, DE, Gilette, Shavette, etc ?

Curious to know, since we usually say that Straight Razor is cheaper than disposable, that is if you don't buy a lot of straight razor or DE... Its always fun to have a collection of items. So I'm wondering how others think!

If you own 1 razor and only, or you have 1 for each day of the week ?

I personally have one DE Safety + Straight Razor (which I don't use yet, trying to figure out with a member of this site, what is wrong with it)

    1. I have too many.
    2. I stopped counting at some point in the past.
    3. I stopped buying or selling, too.
    4. The ones I have will fetch at least twice as much as they cost, in some cases ten times as much.
    5. None of this makes economic sense.

In short: If you buy cheap, stick with original razors, and take good care of them, razors are a solid investment. Fads, or anything which to buy requires depraved taste, will lose value faster than you can say Paua or G10.

Got along with one razor, one shave soap/cream and one brush for about 40 years until I took up shaving with a SR a few years ago out of curiosity. Now I have an assortment of SRs,DEs/SEs, brushes and soaps/creams which is more than enough going in the past 40 years experience. It is just an interesting and enjoyable hobby now. 3 straights, 3 D/E's (I think, have given a few away recently), 2 S/E's and one cartridge razor left over from before I started using straights. I will probably get rid of a few more of the non straights as and when I feel like posting somebody something.

I used to have over 50 razors, now I am down to 10 and who knows, eventually maybe less. Mostly vintage full hollow Solingen razors, which is what I like most.

You will quickly discover that certain razor brands will get a lot of praise on the internet forums. Which brand, model etc.. will fluctuate over the years. Many neophytes are drawn to such hype and will blindly fork out cash for such razors thinking they may have magical shaving properties or simply.. pour Ă©pater la galerie.

If you want to be sensible with your money, avoid the hype. There are plenty of beautiful and affordable razors out there that will shave as well if not better than the razor du jour.

I have 2. 1 Otto Busch Solingen weltmeister which I got from my wife when we were still dating, black plastic scales.
And 1 John Barber which was my first restoration.

    I have 4, Maggards MR1, Rimei(can't beat 3$ on that auction site), Merkur 39c, and a Schick injector E2.
They are good razors but I still haven't found razor/blade combination that works well for me. That's another reason why I'm here, lurking and learning about straight razors because that probably will be my next acquisition(even though my wife doesn't know about it yet )
