Got the Ol' W&B honed up

I was searching around for a place that'd hone my W&B, and Larry at Whippeddogs name was coming up a lot. I looked him up, and low and behold he lives 2.8 miles from me. I was able to drop the W&B off, and I dropped off a razor that was my Great Grandfathers yesterday. Larry let me know today that they were honed and ready to pick up today, so I went right over to pick them up.
I went straight upstairs to shave with the Wade and Butcher when I got home, and I gotta say I couldn't be happier with it. Between the way the razor handles and feels, and the great honing job Larry did on it makes it my new go to razor. I did a two pass shave. I really only needed the first pass, but I didn't want to stop shaving just yet. Most enjoyable shave I've had yet.

I got my sight unseen from him. Its not a show razor,
but it shaves well for a hundred year old tool.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think he tapes the spine when he sets a bevel.
I see fresh polished steel on yours.

Then you're dealing with the right guy.

Kidding aside, if you have any inclination to learning to hone your own, having someone who could show you up close and personal is a great benefit. I had such a guy lived about 30 miles from me years ago, and he showed me the ropes. If Larry was willing to show you it would be a great advantage to you, assuming you want to hone.

I know what you mean. It's Vintage.That hasn't stopped me from putting a polish on others, but I like my WD looking like it's paid it's dues. I don't mind mine showing it's age so long as it still works.
