I'd be interested to know this as well. I see some old style barbershops when I'm in downtown Hillsboro, but I've never asked about shaves.

It's been a couple of years since I was in PDX, but I used to get my hair cut at The Tonsorial Parlor downtown on 3rd ave. Found this article on google, see #5.

I don't know if they still do straight shaves. Let me know if you find out so I can indulge myself next trip out. J.

IIRC they are closed on Mondays. The vast majority of Barber and beauty shops take Mondays off. J.

There sure is. I made an appointment a couple of weeks ago when I was in town on business, but had to cancel due to a conflict.

The place is called "HairM" and it is a specialty men's barber/salon. They have a location in Downtown Portland and another in Beaverton.

Kind of pricey, but they do offer something of a premium service. If I lived in Portland I would certainly consider the King's Club and receive a years worth of haircuts (up to 16.)

They have one specialist, Ratany, in the downtown shop who does straight razor shaves. You have to specifically make an appointment with her.

Just to add another thing, if you ever find yourself in Seattle, the only place I have found that provides a straight razor shave is at the 5th Avenue Barber Shop.

You have to ask for Rick, the owner, to schedule a shave.

I noticed HairM. 35 bucks for a shave is a little more than I would consider reasonable.

Well, the shave was less than I expected. It was fun and all, but the shave was only slightly better than average, and I can shave myself as well. The hot towls and oils were nice, but I have stubble left in many spots on my face and get this, they actuallly used a mach III for and atg pass. The shave was pretty much down and then up. I don't thinks he followed the growth of the beard in most spots. I do have some neck bumps , but my face feels good. 27 bucks was the cost of this shave. They really did not make much of a lather. They used this stuff called sharps which is like a gel. The haircut was perfect however.
