Lamenting the move to mail order
We used to have a small chain in the local malls called Chesapeake Knife and Tool that I would go to and oogle the new Dovo's and TI's. It's also where I got my first strop. Alas, they went out of business some time ago.
I discovered Proraso, my favorite economical soap in the little green puck available at Target -- no longer stocked -- Proraso is redoing their line.
I discovered Burt's Bees Bay Rum aftershave balm, my favorite. Burts no longer produces it.
It seems like all my shaving needs will have to be filled through mail order. I know there are suitable replacements for what I can't get anymore. I plan to try Aubrey Organics Spice Island aftershave balm and Pirate's Cove soaps in the near future, but I miss being able to go to a local store and pick up what I like.

Thanked: 0Try your local Whole Foods market. I've bought some shaving soap there, a brand called "Herban Cowboy," that I liked pretty well. They also stock the "Kiss My Face" brand shave creams, and Tom's of Maine. They have alum blocks, too -- although the package says "Thai deodorant stone."

Don't forget to try our community vendors here. They provide great service and great products and are plugged into what we want. Have fun!

I'm new enough to the game that I missed seeing all this stuff in the B&M stores -- I'm just happy that the Internet is here to make it (and all this great information) available!
Just another... bellybutton.
