    Default scary thought...

i have acumulated in the past months enough soaps ,creams, aftershaves and lotions for 3 years..if not more...i am rotating them all cause i am a maniac...
whats the lifetime of this products? will they eventually eat my face???
i would still like to try more of the endless list of products, but uf they are going to go bad in a year or two ...then there is no point.....
anybody that knows anything about this please....
    thanks gents in advance.

Usually they don't go bad. Sometimes they lose some scent. But offcourse you can always trade what you don't like as much. There's bound to be people who'll give you a good trade.

    I know your problem...

I suppose that it depends on whether the products are "natural" products, or more mass-manufactured and synthetic. I love proraso for example, but would not want to vouch that there arent preservatives and things in there that will make the shelf life much longer. On the other end of the scale, a hand made soap using cold process might contain a lot more fats (over-fatted) which can, over time, go rancid. I am using my hand made ones up sooner then later because I assume that the shelf life is the same for most cold process soaps -2-3 years.

Ultimately though, even if something does go bad, its not going to burn the side of your face off. Soaps are alkaline in nature, and if something goes bad its generally producing acid. They are more likely going to cancel each other out. Plus if something is really bad, you will smell it long before you get it to your face, and it won't foam anyway.

Nothing to worry about I would say. Keep them cool, dry, out of drafts and bright lights (yada yada) and the shelf life will be a good few years at least. Enjoy it, and shave more often!!!

All of them should be kept in a cool dark place, and they'll keep for years. Triple-milled soaps actually get better with age, which is a good thing since a single puck will last nearly a year...

I agree about the triple milled soaps. They will probably last for many, many years. I do have a tub of Dr. Harris' Lavender Shaving cream I've had squiriled away for at least ten years. - It has crystalized; but it still lathers up and works just fine. I have at least a dozen different creams and soaps to choose from every day, and I'm still looking for more to try.

I've had a bunch of Colleen's soaps for over a year and they're still smelling good even though they're getting run down (I like my lather rich)
