Default Looking For The Old Timers

    Hi Gents--

The tenth anniversary of my first wet shaving video on Youtube is coming up next month (!) and I would like to do some related articles for Sharpologist. I'm looking for the fellows who have been around for the past 10-15 years to do some compare/contrast of the "hobby" then vs. now. Things like remembering the few businesses that were around (like the original Classic Shaving with Ray Dupont), the old Yahoo SRP forum, turning points in the community (Corey Greenburg on the Today show?), etc. Drop me a PM or email to discuss.

I have been straight razor shaving for well over 20 years. Started in the 70s thru the 80s then gave it up for a while and returned to it in 2004. When I started razors were readily available at garage sales and actions. Never paid over $5. Got my Hoffritz strop in the 70s and it was vintage then. Always honed my own razors. Even took them on cruise ships which back then were only 40,000 tons compared to today's 130,000 tons. Was truly a challenge on rough seas. Hardly anyone used straights back then. Now they are extremely popular. The prices have gone thru the roof. If you find a razor now for $10 it needs a lot of work to get it in shaving condition. Back then I survived with three razors. That is not the case today. I have 8 in my daily rotation and three I take on cruises.
