Hep cold shaves on humid days converted me too, going for the last 2 yeas nearly with only 2 or 3 warm shaves in that time but in Winter only mind you
Saved,
to shave another day.

Thanked: 3225Everyone has a different routine.
Mine is simply wet face with cold water, load the brush with soap, lather face and shave. Repeat for each pass, rinse face with cold water when done, apply alum and then rinse that off with cold water. Lastly dry face and apply aftershave.

I also like cold water shaves, but only during summer. Combined with a menthol shaving cream and aftershave balm, it's pure bliss

Aside from the effectiveness the first thing that confirmed my conversion from hot/warm to cold water shaving was the simplicity. My old routine had been hot water in a Moss scuttle, wash my face vigorously with bath soap twice. I'd tried the towel heated 45 seconds in the microwave, pre-shave oil. If a person likes ritual I guess all that adds to the experience, but I'd gotten past that "the chore of shaving has become a pleasure" stage and, while I don't hate it, more often than not it is something to get done as expeditiously as possible.
The time saved in cold water shaving over hot is a real bonus as well. IMHO. As Bob does, I've also just shaved splash, lather and go, and whether I rub the first lather in or not depends on the day. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not. So many variables with whiskers, quality of soap/cream and lather, not to mention the blades. I'd like to think that my technique is sufficient after all these years.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Sounds odd but I think I will give it a try. My bathroom is upstairs and I waste a lot of running water waiting for it to get hot.

I made the transition a while back. Cold water shaves seem to be easier on my face and it gets me going in the AM.
