    Default The Walking Dead

Is anyone watching The Walking Dead tonight (December 11, 2016)? OMG, Negan just shaved with a straight, and his technique was HORRIBLE. Did the producers not think to ask someone who has a clue about straight shaving to provide coaching?????? Let's put it this way, if Negan really shaved that way, we wouldn't have to worry about one of Rick's crew trying to kill Negan....Negan would have slit his own throat, lol. He was basically holding the razor 90 degrees to his skin. SMH

The trailer for the upcoming "War for the planet of the apes" shows Woody Harrelson shaving his head with a straight, same poor technique.

Watched "From Dusk til Dawn" the series, there was a straight shave scene that also showed poor technique.

Last night I wasted a episode of Lethal Weapon and one of the main characters was having his head shaved with a straight.
    Technique looked ok.
Also remember Salem season 1 had a huge Hart Steel blade with white pearlex scales...I think it was used for murder as opposed to shaving

You didn't say whether or not the murder technique was correct... I expect that a 90 degree angle would be appropriate in these circumstances...

That one was historically inaccurate. No straight razors with that design existed in the 17th century, they did not have grinders capable of producing that kind of blade not to mention the plastic scales.

Idea... Magic Shave Cream. If on close up, it appears that they are actually removing hair, they may be using Magic. It's applied as a Cream and looks very much like shave cream and after a few mins, is scrapped off with as dull blade. Shaving, but not.

Oh the horror of it all.

I guess on the plus side it promotes awareness of straight razors. The down side is that people think that you hold the blade at a really steep angle.

I remember reading an article that after James Bond used a straight in Skyfall interest in straight shaving went up by 400%

My main reason for learning the art is that I can still be clean shaven in the event of an apocalyptic event. If I have to help repopulate the planet I want to look my best!
