    Default The Walking Dead

Is anyone watching The Walking Dead tonight (December 11, 2016)? OMG, Negan just shaved with a straight, and his technique was HORRIBLE. Did the producers not think to ask someone who has a clue about straight shaving to provide coaching?????? Let's put it this way, if Negan really shaved that way, we wouldn't have to worry about one of Rick's crew trying to kill Negan....Negan would have slit his own throat, lol. He was basically holding the razor 90 degrees to his skin. SMH

The trailer for the upcoming "War for the planet of the apes" shows Woody Harrelson shaving his head with a straight, same poor technique.

Watched "From Dusk til Dawn" the series, there was a straight shave scene that also showed poor technique.

Last night I wasted a episode of Lethal Weapon and one of the main characters was having his head shaved with a straight.
    Technique looked ok.
Also remember Salem season 1 had a huge Hart Steel blade with white pearlex scales...I think it was used for murder as opposed to shaving

They always seem to show shaving that way on TV. I watched a movie called Slow West the other day. One guy shaves another with a Bowie knife, he says you need to get is sharp as a razor as he pulls it across a stone. Then proceeds to do the same 90 degree to the skin technique.

As an engineer things often bother me about stuff I see on screen that is just wrong, now I have the shaving thing too!

You didn't say whether or not the murder technique was correct... I expect that a 90 degree angle would be appropriate in these circumstances...

You have a point there...........or should I say you have an edge ?

By the way, in reference to your avatar......I remember how Fred Flinstone shaves with his shell razor.......he captures bees inside and thus the cartoon cave shave electric is born.........now that's a gutsy shave ha ha.

That one was historically inaccurate. No straight razors with that design existed in the 17th century, they did not have grinders capable of producing that kind of blade not to mention the plastic scales.
