Thanked: 3228I store my razors outside of the bathroom. If you have a junk razor just polish it up and store it in the bathroom and continue to use the shower. That will let you know graphically how quickly rust will set in. Storing razors in a bathroom is generally not considered a good thing to do.

I have a display in the bathroom, 8 feet from the shower, in South Florida. I put this on the blades every year & a half. Not a blemish.
Oh ,forgot to say, the razors are in a glass display, but it has cracks that moisture can get in.Last edited by Hirlau; 01-26-2017 at 03:42 AM.

I store some in display racks on the bedroom wall and the rest in a roll in the dresser drawer, never in the bathroom. Tried that when I first started shaving with a str8.......big mistake!

I store my mine on the wall in the bathroom where I shower, but I run a vent fan so that the bathroom doesn't steam up. No problems after a year.
I tested for a month before hand by putting a piece of weld steel in the bathroom to see if it would rust. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

I use Safariland Break Free CLP on my razors. I use it on all my weapons as well. No rust on anything so far. Not everybody's preference, just mine!

Thanked: 351I store all my razors in a bedroom using two.... no three piles. Dull, really dull and for restoration purposes only!
The bald faced prairies are pretty dry and we have forced air heat vents in the floors so I just dry my razors on those after drying them as best I can with a towel. I'll then strop on the linen for 10 or so strokes and if I'm bored, I'll do another 20 on the leather, but most often just place the razor in it's appropriate pile. Needless to say, I'm usually reaching for a hone to touch up a razor before going for my shave. Honestly, it's the current manufacturing trend of "Just in time" production to save costs.... Naw, I do it because I always forget to do it ahead of time.
I don't need an oil of any kind, but if I did... I'd use unscented baby oil, aka mineral oil, not to be confused with the heavy mineral oil used for unclogging personal (internal) pipes, and I don't mean your house's plumbing. Other than that, I'd reach for a jar of petroleum Jelly, aka Vaseline.... Cheap, does the job and is harmless to me.
Regards
