Which TI to get?
When I first contemplated getting a straight, I found Classic Shaving and I was ready to get an Evide-Sonnant when I found this place and John Crowly and ebay . . .
And now, 50+ new and old razors later, (Henckels, 4 Friodurs, Heljestrand, etc, etc, etc) I still don't have a TI. I want to get one, but I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get the TI experience.
So what would you suggest? Stick with the Evide-Sonnant, go cheaper, go more expensive? i.e. Le Dandy, Super Gnome, Evide-Sonnant, Sheffield Silver Steel?
Or don't bother because the TI won't be unique enough to warrant.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Tom

Any TI will give you a great shave. The bottom line is get what appeals to you and your wallet. If you can afford a sheffield Silver Steel go for it. I have about 10 TIs and they are all great no matter the price range.

I like the look of their 7/8 spikes the best.

Thanked: 335TI ?
How about the 1/2 hollows that the Shavecenter of Knifecenter.com sells? They are very reasonably priced and available in both 5/8 and 6/8. More options for the RAD afflicted...sorry.

From what I've heard, the Evide Sonant and Dandy/Gnome (which I think are the same 1/2 hollow blade produced for different retailers) are fine razors.
Chris Moss over at SMF really likes the Gnomes and I think a Gnome would be an excellent razor for someone who wants a new 1/2 hollow and doesn't want to break the bank.
FWIW, I have a 6/8 Sheffield Steel that I think is an ok razor, but I have other full hollows that shave just as well and cost a fraction of the price.
If it was my money, I'd go for the 6/8 Gnome, but I have a preference for heavier grinds.
