Thanked: 4942Convention Reservation Information
Hi Guys,
Looks like we are getting some great interest for the 1st annual Straight Razor/Wet Shaving Convention to be held at the Hampton Inn in downtown Chicago on 10/20/2007. I will be coming in on Friday and will be happy meet with anyone at the Hotel or go have a beer or maybe a bunch of us can get together. I will also be staying for Breakfast on Sunday. Hopefully Saturday will be a great display of vendors and activities aimed at helping people learn to strop, hone and shave with live demonstrations and help sessions.
Here is the information on reserving your room. See you all there.
Lynn

Thanked: 1Convention Site
Aren't we getting some kind of discount as "convention" participants? When I checked the site and used the promotion code provided, it still came up with $299 per night for a single room.
I think I can get a much better deal (including cab fare to and from) elsewhere.
Still planning on attending the convention though.

I made my reservations when the firm date was announced. The rate I was quoted was $299 as well. I was hoping they'd come up with some type of discount off the rack rate.

I just checked and it came up $199 for me... are you sure you entered CHA in the "Group/Convention" field (and not the Promotion field) and set the correct dates?
FWIW, a week or so ago I spent several hours internet searching for lower priced accommodations. The best I could do within a reasonable distance was $129/night within affordable cab distance. All of the sub-$100 stuff I found was 20+ miles away which would likely be a cab fare of roughly $50, give or take... hence, staying outside the city is probably a false economy.
From one of the cab company's website:
In Chicago, you pay the amount shown on the taximeter, plus any tolls. The meter should start at $2.25 for the first 1/9 mile then increase $1.80 for every mile or $2.00 for every six minutes of waiting time. There is an extra $1.00 charge for the first additional passenger over the age of 12 and under the age of 65. The flat fee for each additional passenger, after the first additional passenger, will remain the same at 50ยข - There is no extra charge for baggage or credit card use, and tipping is optional. And I believe there's an additional add-on charge if you go outside the city, too.Last edited by azjoe; 06-23-2007 at 08:37 PM. I tried everything that I could think of and it still gave me $299 per night.
I put the "CHA" in the Group/Convention Code and also the Promotion/Offer code and it still came up $299 per night.............
Any suggestions Lynn..................if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Lynn, I am sure that it is $199 but the problem, I think, is that the CHA code is not being recognized.
