    Default Razor Burn

I recently treated myself to a shave at AOS. Afterwards i noticed i had alot of razor burn. Just did my first shave (3 days after) with my mach 3 and my face is looking like a teenage boys and it burns when i shave. Ive never had these problems in the past...Im still waiting for my Straight Razor. Why all of a sudden after one shave at AOS am i developing a bad case of razorburn even with my mach 3.

Your face needs more time to heel. straight razors tend to exfoliate your skin more tha other razors. If you AOS barber used too much pressure the burn would be that much worse. It is not unusual to take 2-3 weeks for you face to adjust to a straight shave. naturally the mach3 just makes bad things worse. if possible try shaving every other day this week, and only one pass at that. bad burn can take a while to heal.

Thanks for the reply.....im lucky cause i dont grow hair quickly, so im usually good to go every 3 days or so. Just noticed with the Mach3 my face was on fire again, and i had a bunch of bumps pop up.

BTW...the AOS barber was horrible and that was the worst 50 bucks i ever spent, i went home and puchased a straight razor right after the appt.

well if you can, wait the 3 days. then take care to do a good job with the shave prep (even if you are using a mach3, and afterward avoid alochol based aftershaves this week. try witch hazel (thayers and dickersons are the premium ones but the standard stuff in the pharmacy works as well ... just without the extras and then a nice shave balm... lots of folks likethe nineva, but if you have it trumpers skin food is great.

remember shaving should be an enjoyable experience

Did the AOS barber use a real straight or a Monsieur Charles? The latter is of the disposable variety and uses an injector type single edge blade which is much harsher on the skin than a true straight.

    Heal fast.
