    Default Coconut oil

I'm sitting looking at a jar of coconut oil my better half bought. TOBS do a coconut cream and I'm wondering if there could be a practical application for the raw oil. Any ideas?

I've had the same question. I use coconut oil nightly to help with my dry skin and the cold dry environment I live in.

There are threads on mixing oils and alcohol to make balms.

It is very good for your skin. When I first started shaving and had not learned the stretch my skin and use no pressure I had a couple of rounds with razor burn and it was great relief. It is also very good for hair and nails. Pomade? Dry Skin? use it up like you would any cream and you will be happy you did.

I may give this a try. Used ogallala Bay rum, without mixing it first, today. Life affirming/character building stuff. It's amazing what slips your mind when a toddler is in the house lol

Yeah, Ogallala has to be an automatic shake every time.

You can use the coconut oil as a preshave oil. You do not need much, or it may kill your lather. You could even apply some to your face before you shower to condition the skin.

Coconut oil is about 90% unsaturated fats. However it is 48% lauric acid, a moderate chain C12 fat that is good for you, both internally and topically.

Dieticians encourage us to minimize the longer chain saturated fats like C16 palmitic acid and C18 stearic acid so common in animal fats like tallow. However, the longer chain fats make great shaving soaps.
