Messed up!!
My better half and I were going out tonight after I got home from work. I was late home so was told (in no uncertain terms) to hurry up getting ready. I thought I'd save some time by having a shave with my DE rather than going through my SR rituals. What a mistake. I looked like an extra in The Walking Dead!! I haven't cut myself so much in years! I had cuts where I've never cut myself with a straight. I then wasted ages stopping the bleeding. I'd have been quicker to have taken the time over a quality SR shave! Lesson learnt. Never again!

I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Look at the clock before I got in the shower before work and thought no time to SR. Got out grabbed the DE and bleed the entire way to work (about 45 mins).
Keep it safe and Cheers,
Jer

Thanked: 1081Yup rushing with a DE always ends in a bit of blood letting with me.

No expertise with a DE here, but I've been drawing blood lately myself. Maybe it has something to do with our recent full moon. I nicked myself twice on the left cheek this morning with my SR since I was too cavalier paying attention to its squarish tip. My previous shave found me taking a slight chin scalp when I stroked too quickly using my off hand. Oh well...live and learn!
If this sport were easy, we would all likely be bored.--Mark

"Slow is smooth, smooth is fast."
The prep is faster with a DE, but the blades are always hungry for blood IMHO. I usually shave slower with a DE as a result.

Thanked: 3224No matter what you use to shave with, rushing will get you in trouble every time.

Thanked: 4826I never shave with a DE. Those things scare the pants off of me. I have had three dandy shaving cuts with DE's, without ever having used them much. I would likely have either gone with a single pass straight razor shave or none. I am sorry to hear you had such a terrible shave.

Lay off the warfarin and you should be good to go. All jokes aside, rushing with either a DE or straight leads to wearing tissue on our face & neck.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

When im in a hurry its two passes with the SR. Down and up. None of the facy stuff to get everything smooth. I'm the only one that can tell I didn't put time into my shave so why not. Haven't picked up the DE in 8 months now. And proud of it!
It's just Sharpening, right?

If I don't have time to shave with a straight, I don't have time to shave.
