    Default Package deal

Out of my quest for the perfect razor I would need to sell most of my shaving items to buy the one I would want. Just for fun what do you suspect the odds are of having all of my items purchased at the same time. 7/8 W&B honed by Joe C. Very nice razor in nice condition $100 5/8 Dovo Best Quality $70 Wapieinca 5/8 and 9/16 $25 Custom silvertip brush bought off of ebay, wood handle sealed. Knot 23mm, height about 105 mm$50 4 sided paddle strop from TM pasted on 3 sides. Used only for a couple months$43 Shave dish from Tones Barber Shop one I hated. Great discount $15 Salters Almond Oil Shave Cream never used just opened and smelled 15 Grand total price 300 dollars with a discount. This really is a sad post.

I don't think that the odds of you selling that all together is very high because you have several types of items (razors, brush, pasted strop) at several different quality/price levels. If you wanted to sell it all I think that you would need to do it individually or at least break the lot up more. I think that you have some nice shaving stuff there and I think that you should just keep it and buy your dream razor when you can afford it. Just my .02

    Default well...

i would agree with the other two gents and save up. all in due time. you would be keeping some type of strop, right?dont keep us guessing... what are you looking at? one of those nice friodurs with the worked back and custom scales from williams??? if you are going down the path of selling you could easily get the money you need by selling individually. you might have to bump your price a bit to make up for the shipping though.just my 2 cents.cheers, ryan

You might get lucky and get a newbee who need a whole setup and you have it. However I wouldn't count on it. I think if you sell what you have, down the road you will be sorry. Just save your dimes.

Yes I have a TM honey brown strop that I have not unwrapped yet. And I was looking at an olivewood 7/8 livi in Ats34 steel, or a williams made the same way.

I'll echo the consensus and say that you already have some pretty good gear. Selling all of it for just one razor, M. Livi or not, may not be the best plan. Just put aside some cash each payday and you'll have the funds before you know it.

u guys are probably right I just had a good shave with the W&B did some touch up with a track II but it went well. I just got to lazy to shave the chin with the str8 it started to stick. At any rate I will have one of those razors in the future.

There's your issue right there! You may be thinking the most expensive piece of equipment will offset a lack of technique. I've seen it at the rifle range where somebody of mediocre ability or lack of experience had an expensive, high quality rifle but didn't have the knowledge or experience to really utilize it's accuracy potential. Same when I used to put in a couple hundred miles per week on the bicycle(When I was twenty years younger and twenty pounds lighter! ). Guys would be out on the road with high dollar racing bikes but one glance at their riding position and technique told me they didn't really know how to take advantage of the higher quality equipment. So, I would say stick with the razors, etc. that you have now and keep working on your honing, edge maintenance and shaving technique. Then when you have the cash for that Maestro Livi you'll also have the acquired experience and ability to truly appreciate what you have.

i have read many times in various forums here that a well honed inexpensive razor will perform as well or almost as well as the high dollar razors. the wapienicas especially- many people have said that they are one of the best shavers even compaired to their much more expensive razors.

after saying all of that, do i want a robert williams razor- you bet i do! i am waiting until i know that i can 'take care' of it and keep it keen.

    cheers,
    ryan
