I think about culling the horde of razors all the time. I just can't bring myself to do it yet. Wife bothers me to do it, but in truth it's better than putting money in the bank.
I still hunt for razors, hones etc. I only buy the good deal or something that suits my fancy.
I do tend to give a razor away at meets too the new guy. Of course I hook up friends and family that show interest in wet shaving. That's kinda culling the horde although I still end up with more

I guess I cant bring myself to just buy razors, I peaked at 30 and maintain about 14-16, I still buy them but I give away to all the needy guys when they start or other giveaways. I guess I got very selective in the beginning n so just buying all the time would have been expensive, most of my razors are customs.
I still thought about culling because I really only use 3-4 of them all the time, but some were also gifts so they wont leave the den for any amount of money.
NOW brushes on the other hand I should cull cause I have more brushes than I have razors! (are you hearing this Andrew!) so I do feel your pain,, but I cant seem to let go. soaps are easy now . I have given away 100 or so different soaps and creams, I,m down to 4 and use mainly one. so I think you should just settle down and buy another razor to feed that so called minimalist personality of yours Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Thanked: 4206A nice read, and interesting views. Hoarder turning collector I guess would be my descriptor.
I stopped counting at 100 and ran out of storage space around the same point. So now there are a few boxes of parts, some blanks of brushes and scales, and the like in the shop and a more discriminating view on what I'd like to acquire to rebuild next.
Thinning the herd amounts to trades and gifts for me as well. More about sharing than recouping anything.
Will leave an index card in the collection for after I know longer grow whiskers. Help the wife and or kids know what things were actually worth. (As opposed to what I told them) hehehe.

I'm one of the lucky ones I've never been a collector and I own about 14 razors all of them in constant rotation, I have never had the kind of attachment to a razor that I think it's to precious to sell on, I do covet certain razors only so I can hone them use them and maybe keep them or probably sell them on, in the past I've sold razors that some people would give their left arm for such as two NOS Dubl Duck Goldedge 13/16 in size, a NOS Wade & Butcher Special and quite a few more, the lineup I have at present are probably my longest batch of the same unchanged razors I've owned in a many a day I'm comfortable and very settled with these, do I have a favourite razor yeah I do, I think my mind set applies to everything in my life from the way my home is to the the clothes in my wardrobe to the shoes on my feet If I don't use it I don't want it so I won't keep it.
