I like jimps
They say it happens fast...its over before it even registers.
They're right!
I was shaving with a razor with no jimps, using my off hand.
My hand was a little wet. I lost my grip.
Before I knew it, the razor flipped back and hit me right next
to my nose. Fortunately, it was the spine that got me, not the
edge.
The other good news is that I didn't drop the razor into the sink.

Yep, Sounds like you got really lucky. Could have been a very bad thing. I like Jimps too but I find that a razor without Jimps feels more solid in my hand. Not more grip, just a better solid feel. I could just be crazy. ha. Happy no blood was drawn and you didn't damage your razor. Remember, Dont try to catch a falling razor! It could be bad!
It's just Sharpening, right?

I like jimps too, but it can be a pain to keep them clean and free of tarnish (as they are invariably so on vintage blades).

I like jimping to for the added grip and if needed on a vintage clean I use a toothbrush to get the crud out then a light polish, after that I never get the razor wet above the heel, I am sure there are those that say it's a razor and it's gonna get wet but i have seen the results of getting the jimps and pivot wet with soap and water and my OCD can't deal with that but then before I touchup a razor that's been used for months I always do a light Flitz polishing of the blade.

So glad to hear that no flesh or steel was harmed in the generation of this post!
While I also appreciate keeping my fingers dry, I also really like blades with jumps top and bottom. I love the precise grip with double-jimped blades as a result of the extra bit of tactile feedback. It's probably all psychological though.--Mark
