HHT Material
Found me some HHT material today. Grand-daughter got a hair cut today. Had the wife cut off 4 inches of the end of here pony-tail. Then they went off to the beautyshop. I'm glad I was told about this before they left. Think I got enough for a few years!
I can't afford to loose any for testing and the wifes is so thin its no good for this ether. Now, if I can get better at the HHT at least I will have solid material to test with. The wad ofhair in the tie is just over an inch thick.Last edited by Gasman; 10-30-2017 at 11:04 PM.

Thanked: 4826Hmmmm. I have been so reliant on my loupe and have simply concentrated on that as my source of information, and also not having a source for hair for the test, I have just not bothered. I did for a while have some horse hair, but it was so thick and brassy it worked at the bevel set and was not useful after that. It was my initial bevel set test though. I’m sure that with practice all of the tests will take us where we need to go. In a way I am glad I did not have multiple ways of testing, because it has made me focus on getting good at using one of them. I guess if I had a good source I could now figure out the HHT and cross reference it to my loupe to get it calibrated. Now if only I had grandchildren.

Getting hair from my brush would be all but impossible. (I'm as bald as a Q ball) But the wife is a blond and with very thin hair. I get it out of her brush. I have found that the thinner the hair the better the HHT is. Less resistance so instead of the hair giving the edge time cut it either moves away or if the blade is Sharpe enough it cuts. I really don't know if this makes sense to anyone but me but then again sometimes I don't make sense to me.

I've been going by the loupe too. I feel its pretty solid in helping see whats right or wrong. I just figured that if I had the source for hair, why not. At least the hair will be consistent. A bit fine but it sure is healthy!

I go by my loupe & then by actually testing just a little on my face. While my beard is coarse, the hair on my head is so thin. I will use my arm sometimes but that hair is thinner as well but if it doesn't cut arm hair, it isn't going to cut my beard.
