    Default Welcome back! (To me!!)

Well, I have no idea how long it has been since I shaved with a straight. My last post here was seven years ago, and I’m guessing it was around them. My eldest was about 2, and well, time just wasn’t my own anymore.
Fast forward seven years, and I’ve relocated to Switzerland for the next few years, and am not working. So, what to do with this extra time? I went down to town, bought a Dovo and brought her home. Most of my homes are at home in CT, I have a norton 4K/8k, a generic Chinese “12k” and an old combination Belgian with a slurry stone. Did a pyramid with the Nortons and was not pleased at all. Whipped up a slurry on the Belgian, hit it for a while, then blue, then yellow without slurry. Still failed HHT, but was popping arm hairs nicely. About 30 passes on the Chinese, 40 trips down the strop, a nice shower, Mitchell’s Wool fat, and damn...I’ve missed this feeling.

Now...i need to find some better razors in Europe...anybody still making customs over here? I just saw Mastro Livi’s site is down, but as I’m only a few hundred miles from him, I’d love to go pay a visit.

Damn, I just jumped right back in the deep end!!

Hope to see you all around!

Ralf Aust is making some superb razors in Solingen - check out his website at https://rasiermesser-manufaktur.de/en/home/
I'm sure many others here will have further suggestions

    Welcome back, SL1!

I like Aust, too. There is also Revisor in Germany.

A couple of newer names, and you can see some really nice recent work here at SRP, are Koraat from Austria and RigaRazors from Latvia.

Hi there, we are living in Lucerne. Thank you all for these responses. I reached out to the maker of some of my favorite customs already to see what his lead time is like right now, and I’ll surely check out all these European options!

    Best,

Mastro Livi just announced three days ago that he has built a guest house for anyone who wishes to come see him in his workshop. A cottage style complete with a visiting area, sofa/bed, five tiered showcase, and more. Let us know if you do stop and see him.

Hello and welcome back to SRP.

I can attest to the beauty and quality of both Koraat and Riga Razor. I own three Koraat's and one Riga Razor. All are superb shavers.
Enjoy the free time and your time here on the forum.
