plumbing problems from shaving soaps??
howdy to every one out there!
my sink drain was getting very slow when I took the p-trap apart it had a lot of
very gummy black gunk that needed cleaned out.
I use a shavette and a brush and mug as my shaving routine and rinse out my
leftover shaving soap down the drain when I finnish my shaving.
question, has any one else experienced had this same plumbing problem?
or, is it totally unrelated to my shaving soap??
thank you all for your time and consideration.
looking forwards to your responses,
tinkered

Thanked: 18I have had to clean my pipes out and found either soap or maybe lard ? Idk which. It was always in the main line though. Never had my personal sink clog up from shaving related soapscum. I had to take it apart for repairs and to retrieve a toothbush a time or two.

Now that you have cleaned out the trap, make sure you run the water for a while after shaving and flush it out. I used to have to clean mine out periodically and sometimes use a little drain cleaner. Since I started running the water and flushing it after every shave, not one problem. Got the tip from my son who is a licensed plumber.

Thanked: 31I had that issue when I was in a period when I was using heavy tallow soaps and using oils for touch up passes. I found that a product called 'Pequa' worked extremely well, no fuss, no muss. There's a 3rd party seller on Amazon that sells the 64 oz. size for about $20. Pour a cup in, let it sit over night, and the next morning, the sink worked beautifully.

Only hair has caused an issue in my sink pipes. Long Hair. Not mine!
It's just Sharpening, right?
