How do you...?
How do you guys politely tell people they can't handle your razors? I've tried, and people think it's just like any other shaving equipment that anyone can handle. I let a friend of mine hold my shaver the other day, and when I started to strop it last night, I discovered a very slight nick/bend on the edge. I damn near came unglued!
I think I'm going to start handing people my Paki, but I wanted to get some tips from everyone here.

I wish. My problem is they own knives and think that a razor is just another knife. I don't know how many times I've been through the "knife sharp and razor sharp" conversations, not to mention the "knife sharpening kits can't sharpen a razor" one.

I have always been a New Yorker so I would say keep your f#@en hands off my razor unless you want to buy a new one...

Thanked: 3Yeah, I've been wondering this too. I'll be living in a dorm, and my razors will be in the open. If someone touches them it could compromise the keenness of the edge. If I was there it would be fine and I could explain it, which would naturally drive them away. But when I'm not there... then what? BTW, I'd leave them out so they could dry, plus I don't want other things in the drawer to hit them.
I suppose I could leave a sign or something.... Definitely opened to ideas. Oh, and I've definitely thought about telling them that if they do harm my razor, they'd have to give me $200 to cover the cost of a replacement razor, shipping, and grievance.

You could casually mention that you have nicked yourself a few times in the course of using your razors, and then, as an aside of course, let them know of your appointment at the free clinic to see what the results of your AIDS test is!

Thanked: 5I had problems with ppl handling my razors when they came over because the kitchen table is my work area and i keep all my supplies in a plastic drawer tower tucked in the corner, but you can plainly see about 30 razors through the plastic. Naturally ppl ask to see. At first I liked to show off my nicer razors, but QUICKLY found out that the first thing someone who knows nothing about razors does, is to see how well it cuts. It all happens in the blink of an eye. They start admiring it in their hands, then they pluck the edge, then all of a sudden it's being used to cut paper. Or like my girlfriend has done, runs in along the top of the table! like WTF!!! She said it was the first time she's seen me mad. She no longer touches any of my razor equipment Whenever someone asks to see a razor, i now hand them a restoration project, usually a rusty, dull wedge. If they ask to see a nice razor, i bluntly tell them i don't trust anyone other than myself to handle my razors. and it's the truth.

Heh, rusty projects. Great ideas guys. Now that I'm really thinking about it, no one really needs to know that my paki is a piece of trash, and it actually looks really nice. I'll just couple that with edk's trust statement
Bert, I don't know what to tell you. Dorm+straights=nicked blade and thumbs for sure. The only thing that keeps people out of your stuff in dorms is a lock, so you might check out boxes that you can lock, then toss in some silica packs like some people talked about in my storage thread.

Yeah, I read your post on storage (also replied in it, I believe). I kept what that person said in mind. Next time I saw silica packs, I grabbed 'em! So I have a few silica packs, I think... Not realy sure if they're silica packs since it's in chinese...
