    Default Met an interesting person.

At a local auction, I was paying for my haul of unnecessary goods, when I struck up a conversation with the guy behind me. I told him I was looking for straight razors and shaving stuff when he said that his grandfathers brother had been in the razor business in NYC. HMMMMM. He asked if I had ever heard of Clauberg razors. I immediately imagined a treasure trove of razors and strops and what have you that this gent must be holding. Hiding my interest, I said that I have heard of them but that I dont currently have any of the products that Clauberd produced or sold. He then said that he didnt either but he was always on the look out for a good condition strop with the family name still intact.

Aww man. That is a let down.

I met a dealer at an antique mall who said he has hundreds of razors in his storage unit. That was around 4 years ago. He says he doesn't have time to get them from the unit. When I visited one time this year he said he had been in the unit the week before but didn't think about looking for the razors.

The cynic in me says he doesn’t have them, the RAD demon in me says dig through his unit and find them, and the procrastinator says well maybe next time.

Met a guy at a flea market outside of Orlando who said he and a buddy bought a storage unit that had 300 razors. He then said he flopped them for three bucks a piece so guys could make pocket knives out of them. I almost burst into tears. In my mind all I could see was a small box of Sheffields finest going to the grinder. He was happy though. Said it was the easiest 900 dollars he ever made.

Naah. Just say, "To bad you sold them like that.
I bet there were some in there worth a few hundred each."

Seriously though. I would have nicely told him I was a collector and he should contact me if he finds any more stuff like that.
