Default Non forum straight razor enthusiasts.

I was thinking about this a while back, it's regarding straight razor users and collectors, I hone quite a few straight razors mostly for members of shaving forums, but ocassionally for the serious user come collector who does not use or frequent shaving forums, there was one in particular from Switzerland who had the best collection of 14s I have ever seen Palmeras Filarmonicas and Ibera razors, got me thinking there's a hidden group of people out there with amazing collections who have little or no interest in a shaving forum, so this obviously means we are missing seeing some incredible razors, here's just a small sample of the razors this one guy sent me to hone over the years.

Wholly Kaw! If that's a small sample of this gentleman's stunning collection of razors, then I'm not sure I could handle seeing his entire lot.

Where I am from, I have met more people who collect/use straights and don’t frequent a forum than the other way around. I believe it is the “medical student syndrome” that creates a feeling that those of us on forums are the majority when I have a feeling it is the other way around.

    Good point!
Totally applicable to this area also. I know about three, there may be more, accumulators/ collectors nearby that have over a thousand blades. One has them in boxes in a safe, One has an old blueprint file with shallow drawers, and one that has almost every wall in his home covered with very nice homemade razor displays. I met them in Antique stores and junk shops.

    YMMV

yep, it's like that with everything. The folks with the biggest most valuable collections tend to take a very low profile. Some don't want to bring attention to themselves for obvious reasons and some view sites like ours as not spots for folks who mainly collect and have no interest in using, restoring or maintaining.

True I have seen a fantastic French razor collection that is well over 3000 pieces with no beaters or junk. Owner never goes online just communicates at events and email

True collectors can definitely differ. I can imagine there are some who don't use them and have thousands. Just like collectors of many other things.
Personally, I like to use and share what I have. Part of the fun in collecting. For me anyway.
