Yes, stropping DE blades on the inside of a glass was common in the dirty 30s Depression. I have a green glass Lillicrap's Hone for DE blades, no I couldn't make that name up, from the UK made pre WWII. Couldn't say if that worked or not.

Believe it or not I actually did that a while back. It had been a long time since I used it but it was a pretty new blade. Don't know if it actually helped or not.

DE stropping tools might be a good thread. Lots of versions to win over from the straight users.
Many of them tried to imitate the straight style.
