Thanked: 0Razor case(s)
For those of you who didn't see my pictures, I have been trying to come up with a razor case for travel that will protect and hold a razor snugly.
I have been making one razor cases, but the most recent is a custom black case I will dub the 'Cutz Case' as it was Cutz that prompted me to create it - this case is a dual razor case on the same order as the single cases but with a definite Harley-esque look in black oiled heavy leather.
Let me know what you think.

That looks very nice and would probably be nice for a weekend trip, anything longer thatn that i take a seven day set that fits in my dopp bag.
Currently i use a few of your one razor cases which i enjoy... what are the dimensions on the double cases and how large a razor will they hold?Be just and fear not.

Thanked: 0It's Magically Delicious!
Anyways - The case really is just two of the single cases put together in size, approximately 4 inches across, but the flap is substantially longer than the one razor case.
The two razors that I use in this case for size are my 7/8 vintage DOVO (which is the widest razor I own, and a TI Olivewood 6/8 which is the longest razor I own - due to some really strange mathematics on the scales - they don't fit very well). Any smaller razor would fit just nicely and be rather enveloped by soft leather. I am attaching a picture comparison with an earlier prototype with a shorter flap and not as intricate stitching just to show the size compared to regular case.
I have a feeling that I am working up to a 7 day roll at some point, at least that is where I am heading. Not going to be able to do it out of leather like this though, this stuff is pretty stout.
For sale, well I have made an sold a few of the single cases, and I am glad those folks that have them like them - but am I a vendor, no - can't say that, I cannot produce these fast enough to make the endeavor worth while, just good therapy. If you are interested in a case, let me know, and I might just have a few laying around.

Thanked: 5Really very nice. I like that it only holds 2 razors (I'm downsizing...don't think I'll ever really have more than maybe 4 razors once i get my final setup) Awhile back there was some interest in a razor roll and now i see that CS carries a very nice one (not sure if it was there at the time)

Actually my favorite case is also the simplest I've seen. It's simply a leather slip. Easy to slide the razor in, easy to slide it out (which may not be a good thing if you were travelling but would be easily rectified with a simple clasp which would keep the simplistic look that i like) It's from my TI. Attractive in that less-is-more understated kind of wayLast edited by edk442; 08-21-2007 at 05:25 AM.

Darn you Kriton! I love my single razor cases, but of course I now "need" a double razor case.
To all, if you don't have one of Kriton's cases you are really missing out on great workmanship.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the kind words!
Wow, now I know I am selling these too cheaply - I love deer skin and because it is essentially chamois material it is impossible to hand sew, but for that kind of money I can almost afford a third of a lower-end, used aftermarket chipped Livi. Looks like a gorgeous roll, don't get me wrong - and I now more fully appreciate the work that goes into these things. Now I think I am going to have to start working on my own seven day set design.
The idea for the first case came from the cheesy (I use that word alot when it comes to razors and paraphenalia) case I got with a TI olivewood that I bought second hand. The case was made from the type of leather that they made really cheap knife holsters out of, almost pressed leather, but so thin you thought maybe it was just stiff paper? That annoyed me, for as much as these things cost, you want to have them in something nicer than that. I too like really simple designs, no expensive plaid-lined elastic-strip-holding-DOVO zippered case for me thank you, I wanted something that would last as long as the razors have. Simple, clean and utilitarian - just like I like my blades.
So I went to work, making several (half dozen or more) prototypes to find the right size and fit, and then made templates and refined the stuff from there. With the understanding that I am a full-time white collar desk sitting mushroom with a 14 month old daughter, you will understand the need for therapy. That is it.
For those that didn't catch the thread, go here to see pictures of the single cases, you will note that they are all slightly different in finish, size, width of edging, etc. as they were all prototypes of some kind. All of the ones I am making now are basically similar but standardized and made from scratch; hand drawn, cut, gouged, punched, cement seamed, laced, dyed, and burnished. Go me.
Thanks for the comments, I will answer my PM's as soon as I can.
