Thanked: 15Singing Razors
I was stropping my DD Goldedge round point tonight. And noticed that it really sang while on the leather. I have another DD goldedge spike point that dont sing at all.
I was just wondering if anyone knew what would make one sing? Why do they sing? Is there any benefit to them singing or not?

Thanked: 1587I think it's the grind - quite hollow and thin at the edge. As to whether there's any benefit to a singing razor, well.....if it's a catchy number you could take it on the road, or perhaps get it to audition for American Idol (boom boom!)

Thanked: 995It's also a related to the hardness of the steel. Steel that is annealed, read soft, does not ring like a piece of steel that has been heat treated.

DOVO didnĀ“t name one of their top-notch-straight-razors "Prima Klang" (=prime sound) for no reason....
