I agree. I always wanted one, because they look rather nice online. Ordered a 'all around', the spine within the 'honing plain' was thicker than the rest of the blade, (kinda like most Gold dollars are) the razor was honed by the vendor and it was shave ready all except the heel, and that it due to the variation of the spine, it would need hone wear to 'fix'. It didn't set well on the hones, it rocked like a rocking chair.. Also the razor had to be guided closed because the blade did not close center, and you had to be care no to dull the blade when closing. Not a 200.00 razor by no means.

Also got a Best tradition Wacker, it had a very bad bad wavy frown in the edge, it was supposed to be a round point, but very very far from it. Sent both back!!
IMO - who is king of modern day production razors? I will tell you Ralf Aust is King, with a capital 'K'!

I will have to agree about Aust. I used to think Revisor was up there too, but was disappointed a few times recently and cannot recommend them anymore. I lucked out on a great 7/8 Revisor I bought about 7 years ago, probably made by Werner Breidenbach.

My advice is to not buy a modern production razor unless you actually see pictures of the razor that is actually going to be sent to you.

Dovo is currently under new ownership.
