I'm still working on my Marshes and shephard (I believe it to be one), it sure feels good.
One of the great things about straights is that there is a style out there for everyone. It's also a great hunt finding them all

I like Filarmonica ,Puma ,Wade Butcher, Framebacks, and lots of different vintage, almost any decent quality razor can be made into a very good shaver, some of the real old cast steel ones wont hold the edge very long though.I really like working with all of them except the junk (paki, chinese, and russian stuff) Best Regards Gary

Hush the non-believers and yet they have a strong point.
There may be no Holy Grail of straight razors
Double ducks are getting harder to find but are not yet Grail items.
However my son there is an Excalibur of straight razors and that is the Maestro Levi custom heirloom product.
Then there is the Hattori Hanzo razor and that might be something like Maestro Livi partnered with Japanese Master Shosui Takeda creations
Or how about the Narsul Robert Williams reground rebuilt as skilfully as any Elvin craftsman.
The list goes on and I don’t want to insult the other craftsmen (but lads can you make your work easier to find? Maybe there are the grail quest razors after all)

So, grasshoppers out there in cyberland how do you define holy grail? Is it a razor that gives the most perfect shave that exists or is it a razor expertly crafted by a master or is it a razor adorned with precious gems and metals or a combination thereof. or is it something else?
I have about 75 razors including a Maestro, a Williams and a Zowada and all three give equally perfect shaves but then again I have some ebay specials that I paid about $45.00 for and they shave just as perfect. So someone enlighten me here.
In reality I think the quest for the perfect razor is like going on a trip and not knowing when you have reached your destination. The signs are all around you but you just don't realize it. So you just keep traveling down that road to where? No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0In the world of fountain pen collecting, A Parker Duofold Senior Mandarin Yellow is one of the most sought after fountain pens. Not necessarily the best performing but the Duofold was an important pen in the world of fountain pens and the mandarin yellow colour is difficult to find. So when we talk about holy grail this is the kind of thing I was after. A SER that is diffciult to find, with perhaps some historical significance in the world of SER and still functions pretty good as well. I would say the Holy Grail of razors is one that is higly desirable, difficult to find and still functions pretty well.

It totally escapes me how any single razor could possibly be more sought after or coveted than the FKTR.
