    Default Display/cabinet to store razors

While I have never had a problem with my ceramic vase as a holder for my razors that I shave with, I keep thinking that a cabinet would be kind of nice as well.

What I'm looking at is something like a rack at the gunshop, only alot smaller. With a glass door to "lock" them up in. It would hang on the wall like a shadow box with a hinged door, pick the one you want to shave with and close the door.

I'm no wizz with wood so I'm not overly crazy about making this myself (yet), but I do know my way around a wood shop.

Has anyone done this, or knows if something like this is available?

Only seeing the monkey tails every morning is kind of boring, I'd like to see more of them

Chef, I have built one like you are talking about. It actually has a shelf that is about 1/4 inches wide with pegs above. It can hold about 20 razors at one time(two shelves). Lined with black felt, but like I said, I had to build it. I looked around for a while, and could never find one that was built.

Attached is one I use to display a few Ebay survivors. It shows how the razors hang over porcelin pegs. I have two unused cabinets each with three strop hooks but now mug shelves.

Pardon the side ways pic of the cabinets for sale. Let me know if interested. MikeB

sdsquarepoint, i really like the look of that 2nd cabinet. i think one about half that size would be perfect for me. i don't have that much to display or store, but that cabinet looks great for the purpose. i also do not have a large bathroom add more items to, so smaller is better. thanks for the photo and idea.

Nice case, Not fully what I'm looking for but very close. I'll see if I can find a pic of how I want them sitting in the case.I'm Not looking to store them with the blade open. But that sure looks great for a display case.

I have a Gerstner wood box with 4 drawers and felt and velvet lining. I'm able to store about 10-12 razors per drawer and it looks great and has a lock on it. Another option is a place called burlwoodboxes.com they will custom make anything you want and they do great work.

I've been thinking about making one up along the very lines you describe, DC. The bottom of the scales would sit on the pegs, and you could set them to display in a row top to bottom, or maybe staggered. I have some plexiglass I could make the door out of.

    Hmmmm...off to the woodshop tomorrow.

I won this 'engineer's box' (no idea what that is!) on ebay because it looked like it might be ideal for my razors and paraphernalia. It arrived yesterday and I gotta say it's perfect! Two small drawers, felt-lined, to hold my humble collection of razors, and loads of room for the hones, coticule, flattening stone, travel brush, travel strop etc. etc. Even room to store the various pre/shaving products.

It has the all important lock on it, and has a certain amount of character/history. (I'm in two minds about whether I should sand it down and coat with new polish/varnish/lacquer, or just leave as is with that kind of distressed look?)

Sure, not cheap, but a lot cheaper than many of the new cabinets available in the UK.
