He wouldn't last time I asked him, but that was over 6 months ago.

He wouldn't last time I asked him, that was perhaps two months ago. He said he'd post here if things changed (which I'm guessing they haven't).

What is so different from shipping intl?
I do it all the time. It is a fraction more expensive, but you charge shipping to the customer anyway so what would it matter?
Just this morning I shipped a Tosuke to one of our US based members here. Because I wanted insurance it took a couple of euros extra and an additional form to fill out, but that's it.
IMO, people refusing to sell intl are hurting their own business.
Howard sells intl, and he has sold stones to me and several other europeans that I had referred to him. Had he not sold intl, he would have missed out on those sales.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Gentleman, thank you for your interest in my business and my shipping policies. The reason that I have not expanded my business beyond the US and Canada is one of "capacity". I am working towards that goal. But as yet I do not feel that a 62 year old, who is working 7 days a week as is to manage the current volume of business, is in a position to open up new markets. My recently announced shipping program with UPS for Canada is hoped to significantly increase that base of business. That will stress my resources enough.
And speaking of UPS, for 99% of my shipments, UPS is my carrier. I am over 8 miles from a post office and do not even have mail delivery at this location (a long story). Accordingly, any overseas shipments would have to be via UPS. Until my contract with UPS is re-negotiated to include discounted overseas rates, those rates are rather steep.
I do respect the fact that you are an important group of customers and fully realize that I am missing out on an opportunity to provide you the products you need. I hope you will respect the fact that I have made a business decision that at this time I am unable to meet your needs.

Normal UPS rates are horrible, I think it was them where shipping to the Netherlands started at about $60.
While I'm sad that we who live outside North America don't get the Vintage Blades goodness, I understand that taking on too much work isn't a good thing for you. If you started shipping outside North America at some point that'd be great, but if not... c'est la vie, we'll get by.
