    Talking Auction wins

I recently won two auctions at the Swedish site owned by eBay (which, FYI, sucks compared to the regular eBay). I have paid for them, but haven't received them in the mail yet, but I thought I'd share my bargains with you guys already anyway.

The first lot is an old "shaving box" filled with shaving gear, as you can see in the picture. It was actually won by someone else at first, and went for a lot of money, but apparently that person never paid for it so it was re-listed and I won it. The straight razors are a Bengall, an Erik Anton Berg, a C.V. Heljestrand and one other which is in a Heljestrand box (but I don't know if it is a Heljestrand or not). The shaving brushes are most likely boar bristle, and I won't even attempt to use those. Then there is a device for sharpening old DE blades, and a lot of DE blades (most of them rusty, apparently, and will be disposed of in my blade safe ASAP when they arrive) and two Gillette DE razors. All in all, I paid $57 for the whole lot, including shipping. Not too bad, I feel. Remains to be seen how much work is required to get the straights shave ready there.

The other one is of three straights, one J.A. Hellberg, Eskilstuna, and one other Eskilstuna blade, and one Solingen blade (the seller didn't put up a lot of info, but then most sellers on that site don't). All in all I paid a little under $20 for that lot, including shipping. As with the other lot, it remains to be seen how much work is needed to get them shave ready.

    /Nicholas

Pleased? I sure am, so far. Remains to be seen if they arrive unscathed, though.

nice scores - how many swedish razors do you really need in sweden - i think you ought to diversify and i wil certainly swap some with you. and being in usa i think it's fair that i swap some usa blades for some swedish ones

anyways, nice one again - may be we'll see some of them listed on BST in those beautiful balsa boxes of yours

Not entirely unlikely. I want a Swedish straight razor or two, but the rest may well end up in the BST forum. It seems silly to be a straight razor shaver living in a country which at one time produced world class straight razors and not own at least one of those...

I think you're referring to the Erik Anton Berg razor, and I think that's a shark. He used the shark as a symbol on his razors and tools, apparently.

The fish on the Berg I have looks like a shark to me.
