Sweeney Todd MOVIE
Just watched the trailer for the Sweeney Todd coming out this Christmas and it looks awesome.
I think that Johnny Depp will play a wicked Sweeney Todd and its also directed by Tim Burton.
Check out the link for the trailer.

LOVE IT!!!
Maybe it'll help bolster the straight shaving community a little.

Those two (Depp and Burton) are usually pretty good together....
But watching that trailer, made me think....Hmmm, I wonder what type of razor that is?
First I'm thinking, must be a 'Sheffield' of some make.....
Stlye (notch/spanish-style tip, thicker tang, closer to a wedge than a full hollow)...
Of my collection, from that era, I'm thinking W.Greaves, Packwood, or John Barber...
My guess would be of the John Barber make
What do you guys think?

P.S. I also noticed there is a pretty neat set of scales on that cutter! (in the movie, not the poster)

I've looked online, but haven't found any references as to where they got the razors for the film. I like that he has a boxed set, though! They are cool!

My wife has been studying the trailer since its release, (she's a huge Jonny Depp fan), and since I started straight shaving has been very interested in this movie.
She did a freeze frame on one scene, he is pulling his razor out of a seven day set, the blade is large, smiling, and appears to be spanish point. The scales are engraved or sculped silver. Very wicked looking. I will try to post pictures later tonight.

Looks like the scales are silver.... Today they would most likely be stainless, but for that era, cast sliver.
The blade style does look to date! Even the 7day box looks like the right style!
Does this mean that we are going to be looking to have bealt holsters made too?
SO, who here is going to have one of our custom razor makers, make this razor?
