Default Grandmas response to straight shaving

Yesterday I told my beloved grandma that I was going to start using a straight razor. She responded "My father used to use a straight razor, I know that because he used a strop. My mother also used a strop and it really hurt!"

I just had to share that... The End.

Yep. All the old folks around here remember the strop doing double duty.

I can vouch for that... a hickory switch (selected by the target) was also very popular back then.

When I got my old 1940 strop from ebay I had to try it out on my niece & nephew. I told them to remember this and tell their grandkids. Now one of their favorite games is to sneak up on the other with the strop and POW!

I heard that discipline is a good method
    of keeping the strop supple...

Indeed the strop is coated with all the essential oils necessary during this activity.

New use for Tony's practice strops.
