Default Things I've done since going STR8

In all of my 38 years on this rock, STR8 shaving is one that has alowed more personal reflection than anything. My past includes:
    • 2 years of art school, specifically fine art and advertising (what a broad range)
    • woodworking as a hobby/personal entertainment
      • lathe, routers, planer, band saw (2) table saw, molder/jointer, sanders, etc. + a dang Shopsmith MarkV
      • built many a homemade furniture and working on new kitchen cabinets
    • At the age of 17 I took a $300 Nova SuperSport and rebuilt it with a worth of $5000 by the time I was 20. It is now worth around $9000
    • Left art school and became an electrician (follow the money) and was top in my apprenticeship class 4 years in a row and foreman by the fifth year.
    • Met the woman of my dreams who is now my best friend forever
    • bought a $30,000 piece of crap house and turned ito a $120,000 polished up piece of crap (just kidding, I like my humble living quarters)
With all that said, I thought I've lived it up. Here comes STR8 razors into my life. OOOOOOOHH! I'm a refined gentlemen now. How have things changed. Here goes:
    • Well I certainly stay clean shaven more and smell much better (not like others with their "pimp juice")
    • I now sip brandy and fine bourbon (Bookers, Knob Creek, Blantons, etc.) instead of doing shots / googling whiskey
    • I've started guitar lessons with the intent of being able to read sheet music as well
    • started smoking a pipe with fine tobacco in it (harvest moon, sweetbriar local blends) instead of that other stuff I used when I was in art school.
    • generally apreciate the small things in life more that ever and stop worrying about things I can't control.
Does putting a STR8 into your hands cause all of this? I doubt it, but while tuning and testing and trying these razors you get a chance to reflect on how things were in the past and what you as an individual want for the future.
I got into this deal thinking I would save some money and help in my preparedness for a SHTF scenario. What I got was a mindset of be prepared, take care of what you got, enjoy things for what they are, take it as it comes. I've never been more at ease in my life. If the boss wants to chew me out, I look at him and can see that he sits in a bar at night grumbling and wakes up in the morning and uses a Norelco. Sissy!

Life is good gentlemen, thank you for allowing me to share this with you.

P.S. Yes, I have written this while sipping on some Basil Hayden on ice and puffing harvest moon tobaccy in a briar pipe. Yes, life is good.

Just referring to an out of print magazine,"American Survival Guide". It's where I read an article about str8s and became interested in them. It also contained articles about nifty outdoor gear and other whatnot. There's now an online version of the magazine and I might subscribe one of these days.
