Thread: 1st Professional shave

Had my first shave by a professional. Interesting experience. I cannot believe how smooth my face is. I've only been shaving with a straight for about 4 months and do pretty well with it, but I could not have ever imagined that it was possible to get so smooth. I can literally run my hand over my face and not feel one bit of stubble - it's incredible. Obviously I need to practice some more with my straight!

A few dislikes with the experience. For one, the chair was incredibly uncomfortable. Three quarters of the way through I had to stand up because my arm had fallen asleep and was tingling painfully. The day after and my lower back is killing me too, since the chair had no lumbar support.

Second, the first application of the hot towel and hot lather were great, but after the first shave, the repeated applications of the hot items only served to irritate my skin.

Third, I ended up bleeding from my neck in two places and there was no styptic applied. I got blood all over a $200 dress shirt.

The shave itself, though, was amazing.

They should pay to get your dress shirt cleaned, or if the blood won't come out, replaced! Or perhaps instead of money, the equivalent in shaves...hmm, nice idea!

Amazing! I found the experience so nice I fell asleep. That part about the chair is horrible and bleeding . . . thats very surprising.
