Losing track of the goalposts
I think that the more I shave the more I forget the progress I have made.
I know that when I started I was very close to giving up shaving altogether, and that I hated it.
Now I have everything almost perfect, but I still feel like there is room for improvement - probably because I have forgotten how bad the shaves I got before were. I am tempted to shave for a week with a mach 3 to prove my point, but there is no way I am paying for one and the cartridges just to get the peace of mind that I know I should have anyway!
I also remember how hard I worked to get my straight shave to the point it is now - I can now shave with no worries whatsoever, after 1 year of learning.
It is a huge achievment and I think it is all too easy to forget it.
This realisation has helped me to realise how far I have come and really how worth it it was.
Thanks everyone who has got me this far!

Thanked: 1How long did it take to master the chin?
Only asking because mastery of this area evades me.

Congrats, I really don't want to think about going back. I am happy with my worse shaves now days. I have at least seven razors in rotation. When one needs re honing, or just polishing. I exchange it with another. No not going back at all.

My chin took ages too. The longest of all areas. I found a solution for mine which is to not go WTG straight north to south. I use an across the grain from the left side to the right as the curve of my chin is much less there. I gets it much closer and more comfortably than before.
Hope that helps

Thanked: 1Thank you for replying. I know the key for me is taking my time. This morning I have a lovely smooth chin because I took ages shaving. I just have to go at it at loads of angles. Curse my boniness!

Thanked: 0Just after 2 1/2 months now, I feel that I have made great progress. When I think of the irritation, and razor burn from a M3 , and the no frills of using a electric.
Now I actually enjoy this daily ritual. Even though my shaves are no where up to par. I have to say a huge part of learning has been the great help hear.
