Thread: No 6/8 spike points left in the world?

I'm in search of a brand new razor -- a 6/8 or 7/8 in a spike point. I can't seem to find one at either Classic or Vintage. Classic has some on their website but in reality none of them are spikes - I called and checked.

What's the deal? Anyone know where I can buy a brand new 6/8 spike point in either Dovo or Thiers? Not interested in used/ebay.

I have one of the Blue Steel models from Shaving Shop. It is the epitomy of "spike" point to me. First time I used it, I had very clean parallel red lines all along my neck!

THanks for that site - was not familiar with them.

On the red lines, was that just due to bad technique? I'm curious, since I have not yet used a spike point

My guess would be poor technique . I shave with round points , spike points , and notch points . I've found that all of them can cut you , if you're not carefull .

Yes, I wasn't accustomed to how far down the point was on this particular blade -- I had been using round points, barber notches, square (i.e., more rounded off) point razors. I just didn't realize that I was dragging the point along my neck - it didn't really hurt either. However, I just had to adjust my stroke to prevent cuts.

Recently puchased an incredible 6/8th spike SP1 Dubl Duck. They're around, you just have to keep your eyes peeled.

Just saw a Friodur 7/8 Spike on sale for $89.00 I don't know if they're still available but that's a hell of a deal.

i consider the spike points like learning to ride a bicycle without training wheels. in the end, it is like any other bike after you learn, but the learning curve is paved with blood. i love my spike points. almost all i shave with except for my wedges. i have 1 pipe razor that is curved point, but that is it. you just have to learn.
