    Default Newbie's False Confidence

Hi there everyone. I have 4 shaves under my belt already with results improving after each one. My first two shaves I only did a wtg pass on the checks neck and upper lip areas with pretty good results and only one or two small nicks(thank god). On my third shave I tried an XTG pass as well on the same areas and got the best shave with the straight yet. So the other night I was preparing for my fourth shave and decided that I could handle venturing to the uncharted waters of the chin. I did my WTG pass on the cheeks, neck and upper lip without incident so was feeling pretty sure of myself. That took me a while and my lather was drying up on my chin so I had to relather. First stroke on the chin pulled quite a lot. So I readjusted my angle and found much less resistance. Did a few strokes decently well then washed the blade and gues what? Right when I go to continue I stabbed myself right below the lower lip with the tip of the blade. Not a terrible cut but it was the deepest cut I've had from shaving by far. I continued on the chin and thought I did a good job from there on out but when I rinsed off with a little warm water found I had nicked myself quite a few more times! I guess I need a little more practice with the chin. Hahaha. I'm in college and have 7 roomates who all have been waiting for me to cut my head off ever since I got my straight. They really got a kick out of it when they saw the damage I inflicted on myself and probably won't let me live it down for quite a while. Well, hopefully my next shave will turn out better and we'll see whos laughing when that first BBS shave happens.(most likely me in jubilation haha).

The chin can be tricky. Fear not. Time and experience will provide the solution.
